Words Words Words

By Lab Rat

Said you weren't good with words
I tend to agree
Words are complicated, aggravated
Words don't come free, they've got a need
Sneaking in between, they cut
Like swords, they bleed
Snuck between ribs, words grind

They're sticking in your mind, crawling under your skin
Ink scrawled crosswords in pen
They're your keys, your sins
Your passwords and your deeds to come
Fast chat, slips of tongue

Words, your life raft from mediocrity
Falling language at a terminal velocity
You're no good with words, their meanings
Definitions and wars, dealings and toxicity
You're not familiar with the bass
The treble of feeling, the atrocity of misleading
You can't finger paint words
There's no lego building directions
No instructions for sewing them crochet

You'll have to wing it
Like a song, without a metronome
You don't know the lyrics to sing
From here to kingdom come
You're gonna have to play it by ear
So strap in dear, hand the wheel over
let someone else steer
Just hang out the window and scream
Scream words, scream bloody murder
Just hear, rise like a phoenix
Like a thunder bird
Rise
on the tip of your tongue, scream your words

Indeed people tend to forget how birthing and sewing words is an art as valid as any other...
