What Stirs On an October Day

By lupus tenebrae

I.)

Leaves, fallen, skittering
with purpose, flecks of
brittle rust trailing behind them.

II.)

The full spectrum of
autumn, ablaze in the brilliant
glare of high noon.

III.)

Wooly bears; danger-prone,
dogged, scrounging the
compost for a tithe of its earth.

IV.)

A photographer, discerning eyes
locked behind hastened shutters,
moments captured in their gaze.

V.)

The preternatural hush
just before the trees groan
in their shared agony.

VI.)

The chill of feint winter, a dormant
twinge on a zephyrous tongue.

I love the soft spoken narrative voice. The description of the leaves, the beginning of hibernation and the calming before the chilled transition of seasons... absolutely flawless piece. Scholar

From writing with light to simply writing, but there is nothing simple here. I'm studying photography and I love those images I got from your words... :)

I love the imagery and phrasing, but may favorite stanza is "The preternatural hush just before the trees groan in their shared agony.". That was particularly stunning! Ciao, T/S Scholar
