Lullaby to her destruction.

By Dreaming in Stanzas

[pretty girl so bright]

Tanning lotion and beach towels,

the sundresses are coming out and

she is

going under

throwing her morals on the bbq and toasting the edges of her conscience

[pretty girl is losing it]

she is

baptizing herself in an ocean of bad decisions and one nights stands because

she is

convinced that her sanity is solar powered

[pretty girl breaks so beautifully]

She is

losing herself each night. Spurred on by the heat and the air, thick with humidity and the ghosts of her regrets

She will

spend longer and longer each morning, trying to claw her way back from madness

She will

sunbathe with her insecurities until they are seared into her skin

[pretty girl doesn’t feel so pretty]

She will

tread barefoot across the burning sands of her own self-doubts, it’s like

she knows

her savior is futile because the days are only getting shorter again, so maybe

she should

just

pluck the sunshine out of her eyes, once and for all

[pretty girl is surrendering]

The stars look especially bright in her dilated eyes

[pretty girl is falling]

Her summer has ended

[pretty girl fades to black]

Great piece! This captures the cost of the "wild summer"...sometimes people think they can hold a piece of themselves back, but there is always a cost. Ciao, T/S Scholar

A long, hot, summer indeed in this extended metaphor DIS. Where it's all about the skin; when everybody wants in. Winter can take care of itself. The barbeque line speaks volumes; hot stuff sadly! - Dan

And yet the reflection in, and of it's self, proves her Prettier, Stronger, and Wiser, than she seems to feel in the moment... Good to hear from you again. ^V^
