Corinthian~Κορινθιακή

By Magdalena

.

blue lips spun from broken trinkets fallen upon the last piece of solid ground
the web detached itself from her brittle limbs, mind, porcelain existence
eyelashes sleeping in forever dreams where she escapes the torment that chased
and when the bells chime on the night breeze, I know she will be passing my window
an interlude of angel breath, kissing glass in her farewell, against flickering candle light

..

,

,

she hangs chandeliers
from quilt like clouds
Angel beads wrap her wrists

.
the colour of stars
.
with glitter hair that falls
like snow ribbons
...
the eternal dancer moving
in burgundy flowers
she has music from violins
and perfect lips
..
-
Corinthian glimmers
through worlds and wonders

Dear Magdelana, I am new to this site and I read your piece once and reviewed members feedback and then I read the piece again and it took on a whole new meaning. Of course at first I recognized a delicacy of choice of words and a deliberate diction so precise that it seemed to render the work with no room for improvement. I am sorry for your loss...not sorry that I was given the opportunity to enjoy this very special sentiment and also to get privilaged and touching insight into a fellow poet.

    A beautiful and wonderful tribute.

Hi. I came to this poem because I think I've read this one before. She is indeed, one true masterpiece herself. Sorry for the loss of your beloved one. I've read her poems at one point, but through her writings I think of her as an immortal Ancient Greek poet, though I don't know why.

It is good to see something new from you, although I am sorry it is under the sad circumstances of the loss of your friend. I did not know her very well myself, but through our brief interactions I found her to be a talented writer, intellectually curious, and protective of her friends. I am sad to hear of her loss, and I will very much miss seeing her around the site. This is a sweet, well written tribute. Ciao, T/S Scholar

Bring me tears a second time, Magdalena, you are the Poet of all sorrow. She was such a spirit not of this earth that she left us twice. we exchanged correspondence, & her comments on my work & mine on hers are my treasures. I am tremendously joyful that you wrote this...

  • A former member wrote: I love how you've emulated her style with this lovely tribute. She was truly one of a kind & her words will be greatly missed. A hard-to-know person, she was, & that you knew her so well is a testament to your own unique nature ("power attracts power, light attracts light" type of thing that you were saying the other day). A beautiful soul, she, & always such a complete weirdo on the page (big compliment from me, as you know). A true original in a world painfully bereft of such. There was an intoxicating mystery to her work & I can only imagine what her life must have been like. I regret now not telling her just how amazing & talented she is more often. & whenever she posted, she was one of the few poets that I logged in almost immediately to read, because I could always count on her singular visions to inspire & influence my own. Good on you to befriend someone so truly difficult & different, & to show such depth in your appreciation when that special soul is gone from your life. Some souls are just too Out There to function properly Here. Some of us are just too delicately unique for this often dark & brutal planet. I think that description fits her. I have hope that she is Out There now, enjoying the serenity that evaded her in This World, in This Life. You've lost a rare soul & a good friend. My thoughts, as ever, are with you.
