Value

By The Talking Wolf-Cat

Here in a soon to be forgotten land
Lost to the world and so far away
A place so cold, so lost to time's sand
Clouds blot out the sky, so gloomy and grey

Upon who's shoulders shall we lay the blame
Who shall we send, to perish in flames
Only to return and feel no shame
As we continue to play our games
Games so heartless, so tasteless and cruel
Games without fun, laughter or rules
Played by the sadist, the coward and the fool
Hiding from safety as we use lives as tools

As the world around us burns to ash
The ash turns to dust, the result of our persistence
What will be remembered then, of our hard earned cash
When none yet live to acknowledge our existence

Author's Note:

The world is not a fairy tale. There won't be a happy ending to this story. Not at this rate. Human greed is the great enemy of the world. There is no greater destructive force in existence.

It's a double edged sword, friend. Without structure and leadership the world would be chaos, and life would be too short. There would also be no progress, but at the same time, that structure will destroy us. Mankind's greed is the real enemy, but sadly it is an enemy impervious to harm.
