Swallowing the sword
By cadymae
After a while it doesn't matter if you can prove it or not
The life that you lived
It isn't you any longer anyway
The time spent in that box
with those people
is in your bones now
The forethought you
no longer refers to that time in your life
You don't have to.
It is in how you harden in the face of softness
and how you freeze preparing your strike...
pacing, timing, measuring distance
Knowing the blow must succeed or you lose
again
Winners who lose too much forget what they are

When I bookmarked this work all that time ago, I didn't have the words so I let the bookmark do all the talking. These words still don't do this piece justice or convey exactly how much I love this work and all your works. Absolute treasure.

Wow Cadymae and it's been a while lady. Winners who lose too often might be fooling themselves to just get by. There will not always be that second chance, but there might be a final failure. The Coup d'état I think the French call it, but then they are quite expert at sword swallowing too, cheers! Probably enjoyed this one a bit too much, sorry! - Dan

It had been an interesting year. Most of my works have been composed in my head but then not captured. I have promised myself to write them down more. Thank you for the feedback. You always offer lovely comments.
