Of Wolves and Serpents

Of Wolves and Serpents

I woke with a start
Alone in the dark
At least from what I could see
Perched on my bed
Right over my head
An owl watches me silently
I grumble and groan
In a guttural tone
Trying to recall my dream
The faces did blend
And the bodies did bend
All of them refused to scream
One seemed to mouth stop!
Another seemed to mouth go!
A chorus of silent glares
What is it I said?
As a feeling of dread
Slithered into their stares
As I turn around
Snakes cover the ground
Making their way to my feet
We must not let him see
They hissed angrily
The master refuses defeat!
A howl pierced the room
This would be the snakes tomb
As the wolves began to descend
Upon wretched serpents
Tearing these dark servants
Into pieces they couldn't mend
Their mouths curled to grin
"We come from within"
"As of this moment you're free"
We've existed inside you
Born this moment to guide you
Follow and let yourself see
