Sometimes it comes at the darkest hour
Pulls on strings you hide so well
Sometimes it comes as a soft reminder
Giving strength to the ones that fell
It doesn't always hurt but it can cut the deepest
Or you can shake it off and turn away
Sometimes it comes unbidden, without request
There's times it seems to only get in the way
It can be elusive, always just around the bend
Or shake your world with a single feeling
It can come and go, or feel like it will never end
Take you by surprise and leave your head reeling
It can break you down or hold you up
There's no telling what it will bring
Either it's too much or it's never enough
Love is a very strange thing
