The Dark Season

By saltyman65

Fall leaves;
                    Fireworks of creeping death,

Bring a calm that a long hot summer had removed for a spell.

Dark rest is here,
The coolness of autumn returns,
reclaiming the body

                 Conscience
                       and
               Consciousness,

wandering free in the dark shadows of the unconscious.

Retreating from the world long enough to heal

From the

                 Deep,
               Burning
                  Eye…………. of the Sun.

  • A former member wrote: Beautiful poem, I love the subtlety of how the horror is actually lurking inside of the person. The unusual layout contributed to the sense of suppressed/buried impulses. This is the first poem I have encountered on this site and it makes me keen to read more of your work!
