"They look like big, good, strong hands, don't they?"

"They look like big, good, strong hands, don't they? I always thought that's what they were."

The rock biters words from the never ending story have a poignant ring to them that has always struck a chord in me...

being the last one standing after all that you have loved is fallen

being left alive alone when all that you ever tried to do was save others, help others.

Having the suspicion growing on certainty that your attempts to help, are, in fact, hurting the ones that you love

knowing that if you act to save yourself,
to do what you need to survive, will hurt those that you love.

Every little step you make to survive, just makes you hate yourself even more.
