Prodigal Son

By mikeygreenleaf

Illegitimate child of aborted design
I am the thorn in societies side
Raised in the shadow of morally right?
Who knew I would choose the darker delight
Everyone raise your fist to this song
All who are tired of playing along
With life and it's games shout "FUCKĀ IT I'M DONE!"
I'll walk this earth as the prodigal son
I've decided to live my life fueled by my hate
Sentenced to the sixth circle for abandoning faith
If you think that eternal damnation is doom
Then forever I'll burn in heretical tombs

I think this would make good lyrics to a song, perhaps in a bridge/change section. Entertaining to read, and relatable. Keep em coming, Mr. Mikey!

I very much like the isolated misanthropic anger that comes across in this piece. The only line I have shall quarrell with is "with life and it's games..." to me it smells of a) a filler line and b) a line aimed to please the masses, which to me is not what poetry should be about. It should be a completely personal thing which others may or may not relate too. Just my opinion. Besides that, quality work!

I believe we're all victims of being an outcast and toil in self-infection at some point. Funny how prospectives change as the mind grows in a vast wonder. I find it difficult to read some of my works from the past because I'm still haunted by the pain that drove me to write those thoughts. I am actual intrigued by old works by others and it allows me to understand their changes today. When you face reality, you face your demons and that takes guts. -cheers Scholar
