That Aftertaste of Love

By SickSanityJenn

Brush back my hair, catch your glare
An evil stare begging me to dareĀ
Pick a fight unfair, a burden we shared
But instead I change gears, force my mind to clear
Push back my fear, won't shed these tears
When I held you near and called you dear
My hearts turned lead, these feelings are dead
All the lies you fed turned your hands to red
So I lightly tread over the scars you bled
Life became a chore, you walked out the door
What there was before there is no more
Cut me to the core, left my heart on the floor
There's nothing I can see left of you and me
The past is just a memory of what we used to be
I hold it inside tightly, remnants of our catastrophe
There is no cure for the pain we endured
Your actions absurd and our love was impure
Everything's left unsure and it feels so obscure
Words left unsaid are nowhere up ahead
A snip of the thread and we're lost instead
Like a shot to the head our love falls dead

Thank you... when a relationship reaches that dead end, you should let go but somehow cling to resentment and anger
