The Pine Barrens

By saltyman65

Long yellow grasses stretch across a field of gravel and stone;

The serpentine landscape

SSSSSSShifting,
                              Dancing,
                                                Licking scattered boulders like cat tongue.

Scales of lichen on a time worn surface, slowly reclaiming,
Unaware of their purpose…?

Grand Plan or Random Action;
To the same conclusion.

Millenniums to dust,
Return to the Beginning,
Never lush.
