Where are you when i drift to dream

By BetaWolfinVA

scattered memories crash through my mind
of when we were happier
.
some times the far side of the bed
is just too far to reach
.
certain inadequacies have come between us
isolated in the wall of pillows
.
would that you could cast a few of them aside
or were happy enough to want to
.
would that i could reach you through the pillows
ends in frustration without the reach

What an interesting and fresh way to look at a common recurring theme. The idea of pillows as both a physical and metaphoric barrier to the heart and soul of another. And it would seem so easy to move those pillows aside to reach them but, as you question - are they happy enough to want to do this? If so, wouldn't they have? Or do they want to but are lost in their own head, dealing with their own stress that they simply haven't shared as a way to protect you from adding things to your plate? Such a delicate balance needed on these tightropes we walk. A very interesting read, thank you for sharing :)

Deep stuff. Very eloquent language and word flow.

"some times the far side of the bed is just too far to reach" - that is a great line. I can relate...there are definitely periods like this, but persevere and keep reaching. Fantasies of what could have been seem tempting...only because they minimize the reality of irritatingly differing opinions, morning bad breath and 1000 other things that are part and parcel of an actual relationship. I can definitely feel you with this one! Ciao, T/S Scholar
