. .lessons of sea and sky . .

By NikesRain

between the tides
i watched and waited
for something outrageous
to wash upon the shore
drowning as it rode in
gasping when it left
remaining faithful
with still empty hands

the salt is ever a reminder
faded scars can still sting
no matter their age or depth
even when the water is cold
the fine white lines blaze red
telling me this is not how it ends
yet reminding me of beginnings

i don't swim well when it's raining
i've yet to distinguish
the beat of my heart in a between
from the storms that roll silently
to dream washed in liquid sky
or tumble endlessly without care

i close my eyes

open handed

breathing waves

between rain drop drownings

stinging cuts

glowing scars

Your imagery is some of the best. This felt somber in a beautiful way. Almost like the sea itself.

...the hands of the sea grasp the shore briefly as the sky weeps, & you stand & contemplate right there where beauty begins...

Been coming back to this for a few hours trying to articulate a comment... the work echoes in a familiar resonation but words to express how elude me. You've always struck my psyche like a feminine twin.
