down the well (with Glasshouse)

By indefined

the brink
of an abyss
looms into
downward spirals

shadows cannot be seen
echoes are yet to be heard
and the light is so far away

the construct crumbles
as darkness beckons
to the depths of dismay
a fallen flight bequeaths
naught but the hollowness
of a solacious solitude

and all is silent
all is black
but the presence of
this darkness is weighing
heavy on my shoulders
like the weight of the world
(the wait in the well)

no place to look but up
but even up seems backward
so lost and so contorted
distorted comfort brought forth
from steaming drops of
what could be water
but likely is the
melting of my will

glitter sparkles in surreal
kaleidoscopic confusion
from the droplets of demise
as a single ray shines forth
from all that is black
distorting perception
and wheeling the mind
into a riot of illustrious
collusion with the dank
dew ridden stone of a well
as sodden as the demeanour of
one entreating minds will
to collaborate with the elements
and seek a means to escape

desperation pulls me harder
drags me further
deeper

everywhere is nowhere
nothing is anything worth seeing
and i fall into a tangled web
of drastic illusion
and puzzling emptiness

the well is filling
more with every sin-soaked drop
and i am helpless to stop it
only embrace it...
maybe it will lead me to the top

even a lifeless,
floating body
is better
than a living,
sinking soul
