. . en l'air . .

By NikesRain

there are so many leaves dancing tonight
weightless and graceful with kisses
elegant in precious stirrings
beautiful blown on the wind
you can almost hear their contentment
feel their soft sighing

i sit with eyes soaked in moonlight
longing to hear the whispers drifting
in minutes of soft spoken promises
seemingly entwined with stardust
yet i am nothing more than a poor shadow
cast upon this field of midnight grace

once i danced within this magic
let the songs no one else could hear
move me in almost perfect steps
somewhere in the daylight i became convinced
i was never meant for such delicate breathing
my limbs came to hold more weight than violets

so i will sit a voyeur  to the  dance
keeping quietly to the outer edges
swaying among the shade and near silence
watching in musing could haves
coaxing petals from daisies with almost smiles
still within the dark without anyone to see
