Home to roost
By cadymae
a pulsating cafe au lait
twerking mass of commonness
achieving little beyond survival
and barely replicating enough
for replacement
The die off will be a blessing
The strong can gnaw on the weak at their leisure
The nights now bright and the days dark
and the children age a day at a time
regardless of the morality of the parents
From the hot house of the private school
to the faceless commute of the city teen
They are called to amass
The fat corduroy swishings
on the stairs to the belfry
Bullhorn clenched in pale fist
to summon the bored, the idle, the failing.
they will tear down their own future only
Their enemy banked for this day.
