The Internal Struggle

By devilsrighthand

Again.
Another night,
Of my soul’s starvation…

Encased in a black casket of sadness,
A dark veil,
Depression.

Feeding on the happy thoughts,
Producing hate,
Self-destruction.

Again.
Another day,
Of my soul’s fight,
Against death.

A sad deprivation,
Of liberty, of life,
Of love.

The underground battle,
Leaves no scratch on the surface,
Completely hidden from the view of all.

Faceless,
Expressionless,
Dead.

It's not a life, it's a prison

  • A former member wrote: Great poem. One of the greatest conflicts that every human must face is a conflict within his or her self. These sorts of internal conflicts are created and fought within our own minds. Working at an extended care hospital, I know I am not alone in this. Every day is a battle, but every day is also a win to be proud of. Good job!

  • A former member wrote: pretty deep stuff... Depression eats at a soul in places even we ourselves can't see... i wish i could hug you, sweetie... or say something to make it better... just know that your uncle loves me and is proud of ya for fighting the good fight... and for becoming the writer and young man that you have. :*) we're never as alone as we feel in our darkest moments. be brave. be strong. be always you. this is very well done, lad.
