Facing Lucifer

By Alchemist

Lord, Jesus please take the Devil out of my life
I know if I need you, you'll be there right?
I know he was, so I never asked why
But when he rides its always on the dark side
Upon a pale horse with war in his eyes
Pestilence on his breath, death in his mind
Famine in his heart and belly, less refined
Hair splitting scythe in dusty ivory palm
Wretched skull flashes when lightning fills the air
A soul against the soulless mounted on a ghastly mare
Hopeless as an ant in a fervent mob
Swing, swing away at ribbons of smog
Now an overzealous chill overwhelms the poltergeist in crowds
Forging the zeitgeist takes all of your blood
And I am just so tremendously unaware
Of that with which envelops me, is to close to dare
Yet, I challenge the blissful abyss of Lucifer's stare
As charming as a crook with millions to spare
Disgustingly beautiful with pores spewing dread
Horns of a demon and speech of an enlightened man
So I ask for respite but allow him in
He tares at my insides with the taste of iron in his grin
And a landscape of crimson rivers on his chin
The irony is, the more I fight, he wins!
