"Beyond"

By bpathos

Just beyond where my mind can reach
Beyond where the preachers preach
I see God

Unpopular apolitically correct
Like a coyote it tracks me
All my secrets that I protect
Everything it can see
All I've hidden it can detect
I see God

There is no eluding God
The staff or the rod
I see God

What now I ask
All of me in past tense
The fear of God makes sense
Its more than repentance in my hour
It's the presence of his power
I see God

All that is in a lifetime
Lost to a more perfect rhyme
I see God

There's no need to evangelize
No need to apostatize
Even the NSA cannot see
In this moment what is upon me
I see God

The name of this poem is perfect. Very lovely piece. The repetitive 'I see God' is reminiscent of a prayer or chant, an affirmation.

Nicely spoken sentiment that stretches the normal boundaries of the "perception" of God.

I was drawn in from the beginning, and this write gave me a sense of comfort/hope. I say that,, wisdom is not given freely it is earned. You dug deep within yourself and realized... Things do in-fact happen for a reason. We must dwell and face darkness in-order to rise above it. insightful and strongly expressed piece of poetry you have here,, just humbly beautiful.
