Forget Alice

By SickSanityJenn

Slightly psychotic, slightly insane
I step through the mirror into a world without a name
Everything's different but everything's the same
Slightly psychotic, yeah, slightly insane

The place is in order but it doesn't feel right
The air in my lungs is starting to feel tight
Is this just a figment, a projection of the mind?
I look into the sun but don't see any light

Take me like a joker, I can play the fool
Escalated laughter, pretending to be cool
Put me in the corner and use me like a tool
Take me like a joker, yeah, I can play the fool

Slightly psychotic, slightly insane
I walked into the sunlight but only felt rain
Everything that's different has a way to be the same
Slightly psychotic, yeah, slightly insane

Words to my right, words to my left
Stick out your tongue and I'll carve out the rest
Something in your eyes say I'm pulling out the best
It may fall out your mouth but it's coming from your chest

That could be a talent, this could be defeat
They can call me crazy while I dance to the beat
I put my hand in the fire just to feel the heat
That could be a talent, yeah, this could be defeat

Slightly psychotic, slightly insane
Tried to get out the mirror and fell out the drain
Something's confused in my twisted little brain
Slightly psychotic, yeah, slightly insane

I really dig this. ..especially the way it rhymes. There are many talented writers on this site but for me to enjoy poetry and feel it's power I need it to rhyme..it makes sense in my head that way..great job:)

Yea... I agree. I prefer a rhyme to feel the rhythm and flow

This is one of my better works. Although I always feel like I could do better

  • A former member wrote: "I walked into the sunlight but only felt rain" "Put my hand in the fire just to feel the heat" ... Those two lines are spot on. Excellent write, it hits home for me.

I completely enjoyed this. I've read it a few times and I'll probably come back and read it again. I can't put my finger on why I liked this so much, but I do.
