Be Back Come Morning
By Numbers Peppelini
Don't know quite how it is
but there are times in my life
that are in absolute disobedience
to my being there
though not out of denial
this carries its own unique aura
and kind of smells like honeysuckle
with the tantalizing taste
of a young woman's mouth
I curiously hover from a place
above it all
to watch it move
graceful as a ballerina
yet so very private in its nature
I have learned
that if I enfold unto it
it will embrace me
holding me
inside its rainbow
of butterscotch afternoons
and
liquid caramel evenings
How conspicuous I must appear
come morning
putting the trash to the curb
as someone else

Thanks my friend for your comment. You know, it's not so much the place I described, as it is all that goes on once I'm there. What I penned perhaps is merely the portal

Often I stop in reflect upon myself to realize I have no idea who I am or how I have gotten here. The ending stanzas force the reader to make such an assessment... Only to conquer more questions. The rhythm started off as honey suckle and dew drops. The ending wafted in the air as only garbage can. Great write. Wonderfully inner-battle pen you have.

The inner battle penned from the inkwell of liberation from the self. I get it.....What would I do without you. { smiles }

A sample of heaven's nectar. This is a delight and I savor it. Alive in the awareness as it's sending sensations of imperial appreciation. She left quite the impression on a young boy's pliable imagination. I adore it :)

If this indeed is a sample of heaven's nectar, it certainly fell from your abundance. Forever grateful

Very nice flow and creativity to this piece, with a jolt back to reality in the closing. Very "Walter Mitty"ish, in a sense, but more focused on the feelings behind the daydreams. Quite good.
