love me like a poem
By FadedBlues
‘Love Poems’ boldly engraved on the cover
of the book she left behind
the only thing she forgot
I opened it. the pages were blank
band of gold: ring of fire
burned like her kisses used to
in the garden, the wildflowers bloomed
they smelled like her
I trampled over them, heard their screams
watched them die under my boots
from my window, I see the cathedral
silver tones of the chimes – ‘Ave Maria’
all my blaspheming cries
begin with F
the stars spelled out her name
across the black tarmac where heaven hides
I took my deerhunter special
12 gauge, double barrel
shot them down, one by one
tell me again
how to write
love poems

You have a unique way of emptying the excess one carries.....Tell me no lies , you have a life time of love poems in you each and everyday that go to their graves perhaps, for no better reason, than to have one resonate among us now....Am I lying?
