simple truth, part 2

By Sketso

sitting at the window, smile on my face;
valiant warrior, shadow replaced
with a grin...

'til the sun went down, you see

for when a shadow follows, not far behind,
they're just waiting for darkness, a chance to remind
that joy and confidence are just temporary,
and both can be stolen from those who aren't wary...

I may have started this day on my feet,
but it ended with me in the street

beaten down...

                   right where I belong.

my shadow followed just long enough
to catch up...

Damn, but it feels like old times.
