Out Of Date.

By Magdalena

I fell silent in the depth
of your lost ambition
and the cold grew
as you
slipped through my fingers
hitting the bottom
of nowhere I wanted to stay

There was monotony
in the constant onslaught of pain
where it tongue tied itself around my heart
like repetitive rope

The gem that licked my soul
devalued as the sparkle dimmed
the edges were too abrasive
against my tenderness
kissed lips were never met on the ether
where our spirits would collide

Decline was inevitable
moments became harder to swallow

You reflect at times
in my window pane
as the rain hits hard

Grey eyes haunting and fathomless
framed with dark shadows and spider lashes
hair the colour of a Ravens wing
chiseled features that stole my breath

Dark clouds would braid through my emotions
with every tainted memory
my questions met hesitance
feeding the doubt rattling the cages of my mind
internal bleeding
slowly drained away my love
for you
from the first cut that you made
in my veiled heart

your tears
were only ever for your own emptiness
whenever clarity echoed
and even today
I don't think you realise
how much of my love you have lost.
