The Repression of Oppression

By devilsrighthand

What are we supposed to do

On those days that our insides scream

Scream to be heard, to be let out

To be remembered, brought back to the surface

The ones that never let you go

They never let you be

They scratch and pry at your mind

And your heart

Until you break, until your mind cracks

And they pour out, all at once

Everything you’ve tried so hard to suppress

Out.

Red, wet eyes

“It’s just allergies”

But you know better than that

You know the lies you spill

Every morning, every night

“I’m fine, thanks”

But really you’re dying

Screeching for attention

The attention you will never get

Not the top of your class?

Don’t speak to me until you are

“I’m trying my hardest”

But they don’t believe it

Not for a second, not the slightest

No matter what you say

What you think

What you dream

You will always be wrong

A nobody

A nothing.

But don’t let people get you down,

No, don’t let them corrupt you,

Instead

Let them build you

Make you stronger

With their words of hate

Build a wall of steel

A fortress of your mind

And always keep the gate closed,

Because if something gets in,

It will never be out.

  • A former member wrote: It doesn't matter what other people think. You shouldn't care about what they say because after all, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. So don't get hurt by what they say; think of it as you being better than them. Well written, keep up the good work.
