Marshall Law

By Malice In Wonderland

I think I was a hydra
once,
multi headed and vicious
teeth and talons
ripping into
what was once flesh and bone
pulsing sinew
trapped between my gums,
winding her hair in between my fingers.

her scent washes the air like perfume
bleeding
in the breeze
Twigs snap in my eager pursuit
craving the familiarity of what used to be
her face slumped on the mirror
blood
dancing down her legs
in twisted spirals
To the Mozart in her ear
and the tang of her breath on my cheek.

we worshipped at the alter of a reddened moon
Bloated with naive notion
and ill intention,
we were blooming
into the streets,
wracked with smoke and bass
screaming in confusion.
I cut the stitches from my eyes and looked into the crevice beyond the wall
breathing in the air pregnant with pestilence
boiling over with panic
we pressed ourselves against the wall and waited for morning.
