heroes

By Phalanx

I've always liked the stories
That finished without an absolution
Leaving you with a side car assesment
Of where are they now.
Some characters just aren't meant to die
Because you need them somehow.
You need to believe they're alive and well,
That somehow they escaped the smoldering wreckage
Leaving most average joes a gonner.
We can't allow them to represent the statistics,
All the milk cartons and cold case files.
It makes us age to quickly like
The death of a child in the family behind our eyes.
No words can combat that sort of loss,
Only an embrace gesturing you'd give them
You're only wish if you were allotted one.
We all have an unexplainable ache to believe beyond math
No matter how accurate the calculation.
It's in our nature and their's to defy the odds.

Found this as a featured poem and it's the first of yours that I've read. Very moving and encompassing the hope that we all have. Keep it up

  • A former member wrote: i love the author's note. i'm assuming you're drunk because there are a lot of typos, but this is brilliant, as per usual. those who have seen and lived in hell are the closest to heaven, i think. much love and respect to you, sweetheart. xo
