a.mend.ment
By NikesRain
beneath
a cool autumn moon
he spoke in tones
so gentle
spider silk and faded rose petals
even the difficult words
fell like down from his lips
as if to speak them louder
would diminish their sincerity
i smiled softly for him
with open palms
so he would know i had caught them all
this man bending before me
had held my faith
so surely
once upon a tear soaked lifetime ago
he chose to uncurl his fingers
one by one
until we drifted
into a lost fairytale of nevermore
i forgot to breathe for an eternity
in its wake
when i did
my heart beat achingly slower
tucking the shallow sound away for rainy days
like september leaves settling before sunset
i kept my fingers
steady with every memory
listened
with past emotions torn open wide
because i could not offer him any less
too many years
breathing out all the would haves
knowing that we bit our tongues
and veiled our scars
whenever we dared tread too close to yesterday
when he finally stopped his eyes swept my fingers
closing them slowly over his confessions
as our frayed ending
smoothed and knit
putting his now salved hands into his pockets
we stood two souls
shivering in the cold
more from the honesty between us
than from any change of season

Knowing that we bit our tongues, and veiled our scars! Wow sweetie, heartbreakingly beautiful! You still amaze me and leave me gasping for air! We are definitely kindred spirits in our words/souls! Love this, and you!

thank you... sometimes things need to be re-broken just to set them right again... it's a good thing *hugs*
