Beneath The Hoarfrost and The Moon

By DarkAsh

The fury and the frost
The Summer sun is lost
Leaves dying on the trees
The wind will take them down

Where in the earth they perish
No life left there to cherish
A cold and brutal womb
Is Autumn and her gold

Beneath the hoarfrost and the moon
The emerald lady sleeps cocooned
Her lithe body frozen in the dawn
When morning dew becomes as ice

No time left for her to grow
She's reaping what she's sown
Her dress of leaves so green
Becomes a gown of thorns

But when Winter snow arrives
Her blood is all but dried
The green lady and her seeds
From death, next Spring
Will rise
