Things Change

By cre

things change
time grows long like the wind
on an autumn afternoon
spring's green leaves
fall like ashes from the trees
the brightness of the sun
pales
and bleeds into the sky
just another way of saying
summer's passed us by
lazy mornings
give way to the call of dawn
people pour down the sidewalk
hurry, move faster, move on
schedules return
and lives lie penciled in
we promise we'll have coffee
sometime, again
But I'm watching you walk away
and all I can think
is how I always end up wishing
things would never
change.

In time stalking memories, And sense will make little, Of beauty you ask, Also of the lost, See time shall not forget, And this wish you have, Still true, The longest of paths you behold. Tiger

You spilled that thought onto the table capturing us all. If only we could hold on to those things we love forever.

this is really a beautiful work... change flows like the breezes that go from soft spring to welcome cool summer.... then into crisp autumn and icy winter... lovely.

I read once, twice and every time find different pictures....but all the same in function. Changing in time we'll never be ourselves again...and we can only chronicle(sp?) the moment in a line of poetry. You've given me this thought for now...quiet, peace

this is gorgeous! breeze of realism we dance in it skirts and hair flowing some kind of small infinity before the spin of the earth has its way and we walk sadly and slowly away away away...

... you use your words fluidly, painting a picture of emotions ... the glimmer of hope against change. I reallly like your style ... ~L

I know what you mean...I hate change!!!! Though I know if nothing ever changed I would get really bored. Wonderful write. "Springs green leaves fall like ashes from the trees" gave me shivers!

  • A former member wrote: That's beautifully written. I had something else to say on this piece but it kinda slipped away. Showing the change from summer to fall...damnit...maybe I'll get it back in a minute. Anyway, good write.
