- She fills the gaps (between my ribs) -

By Rebel tiGer King

As I lay there
Sinking into an ocean of daffodils
I remembered the cool summer breeze
Gentle on her skin
Slowly dying in an orange glow

She lay there next to me
Reciting Poe as read by Bukowski
But her British accent threw me
She became a stranger in an instant

Lost in the prose of others
Lusting for their words
Purposefully saying their names during sex (accidental)
Kerouac, Eliot, Whitman and Neruda

Never my name
Never my words

As I lay there
Sinking into an ocean of golden daffodils
She smiles as she fills the gap between my ribs with steel
Giving purpose to my negative space

Like only a poet could.
