I

By FearlessDragon

I witnessed the fall of your potential
I saw you crumble before my feet
I glanced upon your broken face

So I took out my eyes

I heard the lies you told yourself
I trembled in the echoes of your shame
I listened to your destruction serenade

So I removed my ears

I grasped you upon your slips
I felt the beat of your shattered heart
I touched the hole burning in your spirit

So I hacked off my fingers

I tasted your purity once upon a time
I kissed the tears from your cheek
I licked away the poison from your veins

So I cut out my tongue

I smelled the sulfur of your demise
I caught a whiff of your decay
I cringed at your aroma

So I sliced off my nose

Perhaps, if not for I..

Unsure if this was a self-deprecatory listing or maybe just watching somebody else disintegrate? Works both ways but guessing she was somebody special, cheers!

I tried to leave it open to interpretation. But for me personally it relates to guilt for not doing enough, sometimes doing too much, and feeling bitter for having compassion. A cocktail of emotions so to speak!

Wow, what a powerful piece. Compassion can ruin all senses and people can kill compassion. Love thos, keeping it ;) - XXOO Scholar
