easy-lovin' woman

By FadedBlues

easy-lovin' woman

  smiles too much
& tries not to cry
(tries & fails)

comet with a fiery tail
bountiful wind in her sail

she’s a beacon of hope
& a port in a storm
she’ll dance to the music
of Gabriel’s horn

she falls easy for strangers
with her it’s an art
steal kisses in the night
& a piece of her heart

they come for her passion
then flee with the dawn
how many will deceive her
till the pieces are gone?

she’s easy to love
& easy to hurt
plucked from a garden
shot down in the dirt

so she fixes her makeup
holds a dream as it pales
but she smiles too much
& tries not to cry –
tries & fails
