Hold your breath...

By NarcissusNarcosis

I'll try to be direct
about the way I feel
maybe you'll finally get the message
and never begin to heal...
when we talk on the phone
I try to be polite
but inside
I'm fantasizing about taking your life
tonight...
but I'm through
doing favors for you
so I'll let you rot away and die
drowning in the blood of your regrets
might as well go slit your wrists
in a bathtub
wash away your fears
with your vital fluids
oozing from wounds you left
unattended and ignored...
Miss you when you're gone?
Hold your breath...
Regret everything I said?
Yes...
I'll regret every kind word
that ever flowed from my mind
and left behind
that taste in my mouth
I still can't swallow down or wash out...
Hold your breath...
Everything will change
of course
we can rewind this scene
and try 'Take 3'...
Keep holding...
You always reminded me
of a Christmas sweater
making me itch
and clinging uncomfortably
and every time you try to wash away
the mistakes that are sewn into place
it shrinks tighter
constricting
until breathing becomes
unbearable...
So while we're on the subject of clothes,
I am severing ties.
I will chew my own arms off
to free myself from your relentless grasp...
Like a nice wardrobe pisses me off
I am cutting all ties...

So just relax...
let your head sink
under the water...
then
take a deep breath....

Hold it...

Hold it.....

Hold it..........

You capture anger with a butterfly net and tear its wings apart with saws. Your work is meticulous, destructive, charismatic, and ultimately defines your writing as that of the retribution king. What a fantastic simile: "Christmas sweater making me itch and clinching uncomfortably." Like no one wants her. ". . .fantasizing about taking you're life." At the last breath, I could feel my lungs fill with water.

wow... don't we all regret how nice we are to people so undeserving? They drain us of our energy and suffocate us with their clingy grip yet unappreciative of kindness shown. Honesty sometimes is the only way to breath again even though it means watching them chock on their own lies and pretense. Beautiful :)

Felt like my own breathing was constricted while reading this. Loved the imagery of biting your own arm off to be free of the grasp this person has got on you, and obviously the last few lines were great. Awesome read.
