Wax Poetic, Timeless Eyes

By lupus tenebrae

Dear timeless eyes,

I know it’s been eternity
since last we danced in courtship.
Perhaps that was simply the scheme
of a senescent rust?

Many invisible decades have passed,
yet these hands are not as gnarled
as my verse implies.
You must have grown as well…

defying the skyline to be more
becoming in your presence.

I write this not of romance, but
confirmation; that back then,
our feelings weren’t the results
of children with no control

but of old souls; as lovers
destined from beginning to end.

I’m here, whiling away the hours
and whispering through the overpasses
hoping your echolocation will spot me
in the thin veneer of light speed.

You brought us here as friends,
a shepherd and her crook,
inseparable in every facet.
we left here as something more…

as nonchalantly as a fragrant
breeze with no origin story.

Because of you, I ramble in
anonymous footnotes, telling
of a girl turned lavender siren
before my sleepy gaze.

Always writing of you,

a poet

ahh, the hope that can be found in sentimental memories. I've run across many with similar tales, and I can "almost" feel the poetry around their story, but I've never quite captured it like this, even in my own circumstances. Aye, even the opening line... "Dear timeless eyes". So very glad this was front page, today...

beautifully done... a breeze itself of soft and graceful musings to guide mind and heart to a more gentle space... soft smiles and easy sighs.... thoroughly lovely piece

This truly is timeless...and because I am au pair to such a Love I understand so completely...for all poems are to Him, all thoughts end with Him and time itself began with Him; cradled in His dark wings was I. Destined and awakened for the first time by His touch, separated into Two only so We could experience Eachother as two entities, for what would One know of the sensation alone? ... but I wax poetic myselff, hehe...thank you for taking me there.
