it was a soldered bond

unequivocally bound

built on GPS

and a ham radio sound

the couple to traverse the globe

separated by a mental snap

held together by cryptic cyphers

and a well-worn world map

hermits of trauma

lovers by PTS

they worked out their lives

with a coded finesse

latitude

longitude

and Longfellow’s tone

they circled the earth

each step for the other

while completely alone

a line from “A Day Of Sunshine”

converted to code

blended with coordinates

and off to that pivot they rode

traversing mountains

surveying swampland mops

tangled in tree limbs

to each other a globe trot

overcoming all physical boundaries

the daylight could trap or unfold

then, switch on the ham radio

the other’s words to void night’s cold

to finish the poem together

each reading, crackling wavelengths, another line

bringing to life their love

this poet from another time

to sleep and then map another journey

to experience all on this planet to find

was really a corner of darkness

in her damaged schizophrenic mind

her lover torn apart by a land mine

she, the same,  but still alive in a bed

the only GPS still running

was the imagination in her head

where her body could cling to a cliff side

with a cascading waterfall just below

rappelling to an axis

an angle, her lover would know

scribbles on the map would take her

morphine would fold and recreate time

daylight

nightfall

radio

Longfellow’s rhyme

it’s not a bad place to settle

in fact it’s not a place at all to be

as Hank sang to her heart

“Blithe as the air is, and as free?”

  • A former member wrote: I very much enjoyed this. It has a storyline, but could be interpreted in endless ways. A very open poem. I really like this. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, therein lies the reason i chose to limit author's notes, so it could be refracted per view. It's what happens when one falls asleep reading psych homework, as well. Thank you for the read!
