Full moon

By Deathkitten

Why must they bark?
Why do we howl?
In the park
Hoot goes the owl
Full moon
Light glowing ground
They're coming soon
but we don't want them around
Bats swooping down left & right
Chasing insects
All through the night
Not knowing what's next
Here they come
Like rabid mutts
We're not gonna run
We'll fight if we must
Slobbering & mangey
Starved as we are
Howling & angry
There's no getting far
Fur standing upright
Teeth revealed & clinched
a pre-alarming sight
Yet none have flinched
Dashing through the field
Distance closing in
Testing for whom will yield
The feast is what we'll win
Snarling & growling
Attacks to the bone
It's what happens from prowling
Then the rest leave us alone
Limping & whimpering
all the way home

From the beginning I thought it was going to turn into a freaks come out at night story and be an allegory for men on the prowl for hot women after a long full moon night of drinking. I send a cat-call Jess's way while beating my chest animalisticly.

Gotta show them who's boss, and stake out your territory as a primary carnivore - well said. Loved the dog's (or maybe coyote's) eye view, thanks DK!

Was most certainly my intentions. I feel monstrous most days myself. Figured i'd put the moon & emotions to good use ;)
