The Coast

By HeadpatSlut

Searching for a path to lead me back into the light-
All I found was darkness, broken speakers and a mic-
I spat my hatred and my vengeance, never loooking for my penance-
After years when that rage had faded all I had left was rememberance-
Every nightmare waking, crying out to touch her ghost-
So I forgot the suburbs, and moved a mile from the coast-
Every fight was pointless, no amount of violence would suffice-
It couldn't numb the emptiness, so I was left to count the nights-
But even the sword song of the sea wasn't enough to cover up my cuts-
And when the scars had all but faded, my food was tasteless through the blood,
Counting down the hours, screaming out her name in tears-
Feeling like I'd carry around the blame for all my years-
But now I look through blackness, in this city by the coast-
I'll try my best to live, but I'm still haunted by her ghost-

We do the best we can, we move on, and we beg forgiveness in atonement for the unforgivable, cheers and we all have our baggage to bear, cheers!
