Meeting on a Bridge

By BetaWolfinVA

it is an earlier time
when good wood and stone
were the body and soul of human dwellings

i am a young poet,
walking in the woods towards
 a wooden bridge,

i see three men of
my acquaintance at the mid point

i know them as the brothers of Raven,
a Dark Auburn haired rubenesque maiden of green eyes and flashing intelligence that has, of late, enflamed my heart and soul

I am on the way to meet her,
and our relationship was quite cordial 'ere-now
i give them a hail and well met,

they do not respond in quite the same way

While acknowledging that she is the one in control,
They tell me that i need to leave Raven alone,
I tell them that, i cannot, in good conscience accede to their demands.

It is up and over the side then, as i am thrown.

the landing is less than spectacular, as i dash my head on a stone
The last sight that i see is a vision of Dark Auburn hair and Green Eyes.
as i find my way to another bridge

------------------------------------------------
vast time and lives later,
i am wondering if they were not,
quite, her brothers
and were just no longer willing to share?
and was their intent to scare or kill?

I think that i had the first version of this dream shortly after i met her...
it is probably what told me that i would never have her all to my self,
and would always need to be willing to share...
or maybe it was just that i was already reading perilous waters.

Interesting and I noticed the older posted date, suspect you might have added the last stanza lately? Cheers! And your readiness to share her might be a silent proclamation to your present condition, or to say another way "I too will be shared by the ladies".
