Window Panes

By DarkDruidess

Night seeps in through sealed window panes

Creating fluttery drafts with stained curtains

Tainting the air with that damp odor

That permeates and invades the senses

Withdrawing an involuntary moan

From those underneath that darkened window

Causing blankets to be drawn closer

And pillows hugged tighter…desperately

Seeking that left over fragrance

Of heated bodies and passionate embraces

Recalling warmer times, happier encounters

Instead of the sour auras that invade

Once pleasant dreams and memories

Leaving brows creased with doubt

And muscles straining in a frown

While silent tears fall unaccounted for

Against soft sheets and plump cheeks

Left to dry in that foul air

Seeping once again through window panes
