laughing screams flourish on the vine
not maintained the best it could as prior choices
have spoiled the fruit causing you to fall
victim to temptation wearing its noticable disguise
only unfamiliar songs from tomorrows time
has the power to vacate shadows by joining voices
as they ricochet against thoughts large and small
broken and complete yet silently speaking truthful lies


if i'm so blessed
which side has my best interest
this isn't a contest so i must graciously confess
i'm anxious for eternal rest
to rid this guilt from my chest

the past and pain
are no longer my guests


in my house i selfishly search for an escape
from everday life wanting the end to begin
as our souls merge and wholeheartedly participate
in decisions within this cast-off skin diminishing sin


caught in a catch 22
watching the old mildew
release me back into the new
