Oxidizing, Yellow Metal

By lupus tenebrae

Bigger bangs are fell percussions,
worse than words of rift concussions,
when becoming something brittle,
oxidizing, yellow metal.

In the near and dear decaying,
rule the branches knelt in praying,
once the wakes and specters settle,
oxidizing, yellow metal;

Not the golden gates awaited
or the wings of angel fated,
just debris and river spittle,
oxidizing, yellow metal,

not Atlantis underwater
or the riots long thereafter,
let the Earth know very little,
oxidizing, yellow metal.

Let the road become devoured
while the air is left unsoured
by the drops of acrid drizzle,
oxidizing, yellow metal.
