sunbursts and words that mean nothing.

By eidos

I asked a man once, if he ever tasted defeat.
He looked me in the eye with the power
and passion that I had only seen
when I was a child, and looked at the sun
when my parents told me not to.
And he said to me, in words that
burnt my soul like retinas. He said to me,
that life is a lot like a sunny day.
It's appealing. So you stand in the light,
only to be left hurting
in the end.

Man all we can do is keep trying, however futile it may seem. This is heartbreaking but beautiful.
