my pretend lover

By FadedBlues

I love your hair when it's short & red
I pull it gently when it's long & black
when it's Harlow blonde, you devour me

I know you in all your brilliant colors
in lace & silk, in cashmere & coarse denim
and gloriously, repeatedly, freshly bathed skin
in the softest blue moonlight

your fragrance tickles and teases my olfactory channels
dusty roses, dandelion smoke
rain forest votive candles, and peaches in season

your vocal vibrations are whispers of the wind
the trill of the robin, and, at precipitous times,
the rasp of the indiscreet foghorn

as you announce news of breakfast
sing of an auric love
or leave a hymn of farewell
(there's always 'farewell')

you are there throughout the sky
and in each billowing cloud
trembling between drops of rain
in the steamy mirror
and ever seductive, in the tangled sheets

transcender of time, your face is always beautiful
and you have many names

Things aren't always pretend... there will be one and only one that can satisfy that fire in ways others cannot, whether it be a dirty lil whore, a slave girl, or a true love... there is always one willing to do anything for that one person.... Scholar
