A postcard from my youth

By cadymae

You are an exquisite memory

a peaceful afternoon of long lines
     dressed in muscle and mahogony

of attentive surfing on waves of passion
as they crested and ebbed and eddied

I'll pull you out on long rides
    tossing and turning you now
          as you did me then

I'll smile still, though time tinges it with a sadness
at how long ago that sunny afternoon was
from where I remember you fondly now.

this is faded and yellowed with age, a picture captured, I've always wished the mind could do it like a camera, capturing everything perfectly.

...a poem for us with a 'long ago' to recall. laughter & tears...
