Consumed...

By SolApathy

Didn’t ask to be alive
Neither did you
Treated me like a pariah in your
Womb
My very existence
Consumed all of your life
You beat me everyday
A breadth from extinguishing
My life
The years pass on by
Painfully slow as the scars colored my soul
Beatings so much worse
And no one ever knows
Long sleeves in the summer to hide
Your hate for me
Sunglasses to escape the humiliation
That you don’t want me to be
Never did the rage stir
Inside me
Tried to understand
Why you reviled me at every turn
Listening to your whispers
Wishing I would just burn
I turn
One day and don’t know why
Snapped
Looked back
Saw the rage in my eyes
I felt your fear
Sweet music to my empty soul
I touch you with violence
You can’t escape
Screaming incoherently
As I wake all the rage of fifteen years
I awaken your tears
Look to your broken body
Asking why?
I whisper to you
Why did you give me
…life?
