King of Spades

By With love_Crow

Melt down the metal of your armor
And inject me with your strength
Liquid steel over coppery veins
Cells harden and sink within my skin
I'm dead but brought to life again

Pupils dilate and lungs expand
To accommodate the poison I just breathed in
Inhaling a concoction of star dust
My negated wishes taking me to the skies
And back down to earth through dull glassy eyes

The burn of daybreak leaves my throat dry
But the scald is like fire igniting within
I can feel it eat away at me, famine and thirsty
Like Jerusalem calling out for blood
But I used it all to fill this broken cup

The rise and fall of these venomous tides
Bring me closer to Heaven, closer to defeat
Yet I feel like a king on this throne of obsession
Holding onto these luxuries with an iron grip
And through the eye of man's needle...............

I slip..........

...very apt description in precise terms...'king' on his 'throne of obsession' says it all...fly so high & fall so hard.

Easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle, than a rich man to enter the gates of heaven (Jesus?). Anyway, this was indeed superb and somebody or something has definitely lit your fire! Cheers.
