Black Water Baptism

By Sean Mc Shane

I seem to walk this Earth, for no real reason
my destiny never forged, to bring high treason

I walk and I wander, wondering who I can thank
you'll know me when you see me, I am Blank

Wearing the color of my heart, to cover my soul
trying to find something, in this endless hole

when the storms roll in, and all seems so lost
where's the power of money ? can it pay this cost ?

No hope can be found in here,  hail the graveyard king !!
bless all the free souls around, listen to them sing

I can wander on with the dead, they expect very little
the bonds of a beautiful life, are now too brittle

dreams have become reversed-vision, asleep or awake
whether alive or not, the darkness will take

while hiding on the run, this time it won't work
another black water baptism, bow down in the murk

come up with a new outlook, much darker than before
I'm a bastard's bastard,  our mother was a whore

I'm looking for that cliffside, freefall into the dream
then once and for all, they will know what I mean . . .

Your archives are interesting, I enjoy the journey.... "I'm looking for that cliffside, freefall into the dream" I like the never hit the bottom kind of free-falling into the dream...... Nicely penned Sean.

I agree, M. I like the bottomless dreams, too. Next one I come across, I'll look for you there. Thanks as always for the sweet comps. Til then -

Strong and almost strident self-appraisal, much enjoyed the twists and turns, hope you feel better, cheers!

Thanks, d. But if I didn't feel this way, then I'd know something's wrong. j/k. This is an older work from a more turbulent time. But I do apprechiate the concern and all. Thanks, again. later -

Thanks Dev, but my archives are actually about 10 large boxes filled with notebooks, going back to about '88. I turn to them when the 'block' shows up. til next time -
